Life is a privilege and everything we do in life is a seed… There are results for every right thought, word and action and consequences for wrong ones.
The principal strategy for success in life as designed by God is simply OPPORTUNITY.
I see opportunity as a unique ‘means of transportation’. It’s is so unique that it doesn’t take us from one location or place to another like the regular but it takes us from one level in life to another with the later being better and greater than the previous.
As powerful as the concept of opportunity is, our attitude to it is what determines what we get from it.
The basic difference between the rich and the poor; a failure and success is simply OPPORTUNITY!
Everyone potentially has equal chance for advancement and fulfillment in life but not too many people get much out of life due to wrong attitude.
It’s interesting to know that we all express wrong attitudes by sowing wrong seeds that often impedes our progress such as:
1. Seed of ingratitude (1 Corinthians 10:10)
Ingratitude is shown in murmuring, complaining and grumbling. We will recall that the sin of ingratitude
Men are in sizes and life is in phases, ingratitude is probably the most common attitude amongst humans and it is a seed that procures nothing positive. On the contrary, gratitude is a key to higher altitudes in life. Learn to be thankful, there are millions of people in worse conditions! If only you knew.
2. Seed of pride (1Peter 5:5)
Pride goeth before a fall; God resisteth the proud but gives grace to the humble.
A proud man cannot enjoy the privilege of grace, favour or divine help. Also, pride make it impossible for you to listen and learn hence, growth and progress becomes nothing but a wish.
3. Seed of complacency (Proverbs 6:10,11& 24:33,34)
The largest room in the world is the room for improvement; complacency is a major reason for demotion. I don’t believe it’s possible to remain at a point in life, you are either moving forward or not as life is like a sloppy race. All you need to do not to move forward is DO NOTHING, and that’s exactly is the common factor for all complacent people. They see it a big deal developing and investing in themselves as a result, they soon become obsolete. This is the 21st century where those who don’t keep up miss out!
4. Seed of pessimism
Optimist see opportunities in every problem; pessimists see problems in every opportunity, what do you see? What you see determines the seed you sow, the seeds you sow tells whether or not you have a tomorrow and the quality of the seeds you sow determines the quality of your future. Are you negative and critical about what the future holds? Then you may not go far in life, as your hands will never handle what your mind can’t conceive or believe to be accessible.
5. Seed of unfriendliness
Success is about 70% relationship! People are bridges, being unfriendly will only multiply the number of unnecessary enemies … Opportunities often come in various form such as events, condition, daily chores, gifts/talents, time/season, … and people! Its a small world and its true what they say, that ‘what goes around comes around’. Big things also come in small packages, many have mistreated or despised the angel, link or connection God organized for their progress via the wrong seed of unfriendliness. It’s people God uses to raise people.
6. Seed of waste
The seed of waste creates emptiness in your tomorrow. Please understand that your life depends on your ability to maximize the resources you currently have even if they seem to never be enough. If you ere not maximizing them, you are despising and wasting them.
Despise not the days of little beginnings as the greatest of things have been designed to start small.
How many ideas have come to you that you did nothing about? How well have you developed your gifts, talents and innate abilities? How may opportunities have you despised and lost? How many times have you spent money recklessly simply because you considered the money to be meagre and not sufficient? Sufficiency come from our making the best of the insufficient. Waste is not always a result of having more than enough, it is largely a result of management default and we only qualify for bigger things when we do well with little things.
7. Seed of poor preparation
It is indeed true that ‘Proper preparation prevents poor performance’.
Someone also said that when opportunity meets with preparation, success results. Opportunities will come unannounced at different times in life but will you be prepared? We have missed out on lots of opportunities that would have turned our lives around for life however, we either never recognized them or were not prepared for them. We all have the choice to live ready or live foolish, life is so serious that we need to have a serious approach to life to make a head way. Be more deliberate and serious with your preparation, your time may just be around the corner.
Life is a test, God tests the attitudes via our responses to people, situations, positions, authority, … to determine where next to place us. Would you say you are doing well enough?
Wrong attitude is like a flat tire, you can’t go far with it.
