A wise man once said “No future will ever be greater than the quality of labour invested in it.”
The only thing that gives value to grace is labour! Carefully consider the verses below:
1 Corinthians 15:10 KJV
But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Philippians 4:13 KJV
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
The scriptures stated above tells us that we have been “engraced” or empowered to do anything we are required to do to have a fulfilled life. However, we frustrate the grace of God by our inactivity! Without labour, grace is only in vain.
I have identified below, 3 major ways we frustrate the undeserved yet abundant grace of God.
The lazy is known by idleness, procrastination, excuses and incomplete tasks or projects.
Today is the only control you have over tomorrow. If you refuse to do something about today, your tomorrow will be nothing but emptiness and chronic regrets! Why leave what you can do today till tomorrow…that will mean sorrows waiting to happen.
It is often said that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop and the idle hand is his tool. Wake up! There is always something to be done!
Do you often procrastinate? Get wisdom from Proverbs 24:33-34 which says:
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
Procrastination has never made anyone rich.
Are you quick to excuse your failures to meet deadlines or to get anything done? This is for you:
The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets. (Proverbs 22:13 KJV).
Hmmm… excuses sink great destinies!
The only obstacles on your path to meaningful achievement are the excuses that YOU have invented, how sad.
Do you hardly complete or finish any task, project or assignment? The word says in Proverbs 12:27 that:
The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
Imagine how much energy the lazy man in this verse would have expended in hunting, only for him to leave out the part that would have crowned his entire effort with success till another time. He never got that chance to make it right of course.
- Sight (facts)
Those who work or walk by sight never get much done. Those who operate on this level limit themselves by focusing on: prevalent conditions contrary to God’s word or promise, their shameful past ordeal or experiences and their lowly background.
Check this out:
Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. (Hebrews 10:38 KJV)
God has no pleasure in those who consider facts and conditions rather than His word or promise.
 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say , and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. (2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV)
Action is an evidence of faith at work. Until you take steps and act, heaven sees you as a joker and not someone going somewhere. Don’t let sight be your distraction.
Faith without works is dead! (See James 2:18-26)
What you see around you could rob you of what could be, see the invisible; take a leap of faith.
It is interesting to know that no one was born with fear. My 1-year old son will boldly face anyone or anything without fear. We all grew up learning fear from our environment and the people we related with. The word gives credence to this in the book of 2Timothy 1:7 thus: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
We fear challenges, risks, people’s opinion and expectations and allow the things we fear drive us farther away from actualizing our dreams. Fear cripples initiative and keeps us at a spot. Billions of people are afraid of the unknown, millions are afraid that they are not qualified to do certain things or take certain steps…
Irrespective of the nature of your fear, if you can brace up and discover truths from the word and confront everything that had succeeded in holding you back before now, you will make remarkable progress.
Take courage and decide from now to do all you were formerly afraid of doing!
Romans 10:17 says:
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith is automatic for those who have the habit of studying and intently meditate on the word of God. Please understand that what you are used to, determines what becomes of you.
Hear me; your continued inactivity will become a jinx to you if you refuse to heed this timely call to diligent engagement.
Let me tell you 5 things that inactivity will do to you.
- Inactivity will make you redundant
- Inactivity will make you a lifelong spectator in the affairs of life
- Inactivity will make you a concern
- Inactivity will rob you of your dreams and destiny
- Inactivity will make you nothing but a non-entity
* The greatest reason why people allow laziness, fear and conditions or life’s imminent challenges cripple their success is Ignorance. This is man’s greatest mountain and also, the greatest challenge God has with man on a daily basis.
Go for knowledge, go for the truth! That is the way forward!
* John 8:32 KJV
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
* Proverbs 11:9b KJV
… but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
* Hosea 4:6 KJV
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Be wise! Just Start!
